
Catriona Matthew

Born in Edinburgh and grew up in North Berwick. She learned to play golf on the Children’s Course and North Berwick West Links in the town, where she still lives. Had a successful junior and amateur career and graduated from the University of Stirling in 1992 having studied accountancy in tandem with a golf scholarship. Joined the LPGA Tour and best seasons were 2001 and 2005 when she finished tenth on the money list. Married Graeme Matthew – also her caddie – in 1994 and the couple have two daughters, Katie and Sophie. Won her first major, the British Women’s Open, 11 weeks after giving birth to Sophie. Won four times on the LPGA Tour and six times on the LET. Became a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours List in 2010.
