CHUN In Gee

Chun In Gee

Korea (KOR)

A junior maths prodigy with a genius level IQ. When she was nine, she went with her dad to a driving range. Her dad challenged her to hit a shot; she did – badly - and her dad’s friend laughed at her. Determined, she spent the rest of the day practicing, and fell in love with the sport. In the end, golf won out over academics. Chun became a mainstay of the Korean national team as a teenager and turned pro in 2012, quickly moving to the top of the tree on her native LPGA of Korea Tour. Won nine times between 2013 and 2015, heading the money list in the latter season. Her first victory on the LPGA Tour was also her first major, as she closed with a 66 to win the 2015 US Women’s Open by a stroke from compatriot Amy Yang. She is currently leading the Rookie of the Year race on the LPGA Tour this season.
