Picked up golf from his businessman father when he started following him to the driving range. He enjoyed a fine amateur career, winning Malaysia’s amateur championship for three consecutive years before joining the pro ranks. In 2010, he became the first player from his country to play in all four rounds at The Open Championship, at St Andrews. He is also the first Malaysian to win on the Asian Tour – with victory at the 2002 Taiwan Open. In 2015, he ended a 13-year title drought when he won the Taiwan Masters. He qualified to represent Team Asia in the 2016 EurAsia Cup and also played in the World Cup in 2000 and 2001. In 2014, he fought back from a debilitating shoulder surgery by successfully defending his title at the Asian Development Tour’s PGM Northport Glenmarie Masters.
