In 2009, at the age of 16, he became the youngest ever winner of the British Amateur Championship. The win qualified him for The Open Championship, where, playing alongside Tom Watson and Sergio García in the first two rounds, he made the cut and went on to finish tied 17th to win the Silver Medal as leading amateur. Was part of the IGF delegation in Copenhagen when golf was re-admitted into the Olympic movement. Turned pro at 17 and became the youngest European Tour winner aged 17 years and 188 days. Also became the first teenager to win three European Tour titles before capturing the biggest to date, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Returning to form again this season after a fallow period.
