Entries for the 2016 World Amateur Team Championships Open

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (24 February ) – Entries for the 2016 World Amateur Team Championships, conducted by the International Golf Federation (IGF), open on Feb. 24 2016.

National federation members should apply online and log in with credentials sent from the IGF office. Applications will be taken through May 1, 2016.
The 2016 World Amateur Team Championships, hosted by the Mexican Golf Federation, will be played at the Mayakoba El Camaleon Golf Club and Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The women’s competition for the Espirito Santo Trophy, will be conducted 14-17 September, and the men’s competition for the Eisenhower Trophy, will be conducted 21-24 September.
Both championships feature the world’s leading amateurs and are played over 72 holes of stroke play. Each country is represented by a team of two or three players.
At the 2014 Championships in Japan, 50 teams competed for the Espirito Santo Trophy, which was won by Australia, and 67 teams played for the Eisenhower Trophy, which was won by the United States of America.
The World Amateur Team Championships are a biennial international amateur competition conducted by the International Golf Federation, which comprises national governing bodies of golf in 131 countries. The competition is rotated among three geographic zones: Asia-Pacific, Americas and Europe-Africa.
