Medical
Japan has a number of restrictions on medicines such as psychotropic and narcotic substances. The IGF therefore strongly recommends you to consult this summary document before going to Japan and to contact your National Olympic Committee (NOC) well in advance if you plan on taking any medication with you in order to give time to get any necessary permissions from Japan.
Do not enter the country with illegal substances, such as amphetamines/methamphetamines (Adderall), cannabis or cannabis derivatives.
In addition to the Japanese laws on importing medications and WADA's Prohibited List in anti-doping, the IOC Needle Policy and Rules applicable to Tokyo 2020 apply.
COVID-19 Countermeasures
Since the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the IGF along with the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee have been working tirelessly to replan the delivery of the Olympic Golf Competitions. The health and safety of all stakeholders remains our top priority.
The IOC and Tokyo 2020 recently released a series of Playbooks that outline the COVID-19 framework to be implemented during the Olympic Games.
The IGF agreed dedicated policies in cooperation with the IOC, the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, the Government of Japan and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
