Enjoyed an impressive amateur career, representing the University of Central Florida (Orlando) and playing in the 2014 Palmer Cup. Set records tumbling in his rookie season on the European Challenge Tour, topping the rankings with earnings of €251,592, beating the single-season record set by Edoardo Molinari in 2009. Ended the year by winning the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final in Oman, with his father, Tómas, as caddie, a role which he performed on a number of occasions during the season. Born in Lisbon, Gouveia grew up in the Algarve but moved to London straight after securing graduation to the European Tour to join his girlfriend, who studies there.
