Started playing golf as a three-year-old, but his main passion as a youngster was dirt-bike riding. Gave up the sport after an accident prior to his freshman year in high school resulted in several broken bones in his foot. Spent 37 weeks as the world’s leading amateur in 2007 and 2008. Won the Ben Hogan Award as best collegiate golfer in the US before turning professional. In 2014, became the first player in the modern era to finish in the top five in all four major championships in a season without winning one. Continued in the same rich vein of form in 2015, winning The Players Championship on the PGA Tour and his first of two victories on the European Tour at the Scottish Open. Cuts a bright figure on at tournaments as one of the Tour’s more progressive dressers.
