His father, also Rodolfo, played professional golf for ten years before three herniated disks forced him to retire in 1994. Rodolfo senior’s career featured three wins in Mexico. His mother, Marcela, once made a hole-in-one to win a car. Has a brother, Marcelo, who plays soccer professionally in Mexico. Went to college at the University of North Texas, where he won three tournaments in his senior year and was an All-American in 2013. Played on the Mexican team in the 2010 and 2012 Eisenhower Trophy, finishing second to the USA on the second occasion. Played on the Mexican team in the 2011 World University Games, helping the team to a bronze medal. Turned pro in 2013 and largely played on PGA Tour Latinoamérica, winning three times in 2015 to be fully exempt for the 2016 Web.com Tour.
