LEWIS Stacy

Stacy Lewis

United States of America (USA)

Born in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in Texas in The Woodlands outside Houston, Lewis suffered from a spinal condition known as scoliosis, which was diagnosed at age 11 and treated by a spinal fusion when she was in high school. Missed her first collegiate golf season recovering from the surgery. Despite those problems, she was a decorated amateur before graduating from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting and turning pro in 2008. In her final amateur event, went 5-0 – the first player to do so – as the US beat Great Britain & Ireland in the Curtis Cup over the Old Course at St Andrews. That iconic venue was to play another huge part in her life in 2013 when, two years after her first major success at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, she claimed the British Women’s Open at the Old Course. Has 11 career victories to date and was a two-time Rolex Player of the Year (2012 & 2014).
