OLESEN Thorbjorn

Thorbjørn Olesen

Denmark (DEN)

Formerly known as Jacob, he changed to use his middle name Thorbjørn as it is far less common. Turned professional in 2008 and finished in fourth place on the thirdtier Nordic League rankings in 2009, having won three tournaments, to graduate to the second tier European Challenge Tour for 2010. The young Dane showed steely determination to win the 2015 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews to triumph by two strokes. It was the perfect comeback after a testing year, during which he had surgery on his wrist and struggled to rediscover the sort of form that had earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting young players in the world. Made his debut in the Seve Trophy in 2013, helping Continental Europe to a first victory over Great Britain and Ireland in seven attempts. He lives in London and spends time practising in Dubai.
